ON THE ROCKS BUNGALOW & RESTAURANT

A pure jungle feeling – this is exactly what ON THE ROCKS is for.
No motorbikes, and with no other guesthouses beside us – a quiet and relaxing spot with a colorful botanic garden and 10 lovely private wooden bungalows. Step by Step ON THE ROCKS has grown in to an oasis right at the edge of the Gunung Leuser National Park. The panoramic views from the bungalow balconies, as well as from our open.air restaurant are simple breathtaking. Our spacious bungalow logde are something extremely unique in Bukit Lawang.

On the rocks is located on top of the hill, away from the often overcrowded tourist areas.
Living in harmony with the nature – a wide range of wildlife can be seen daily at ON THE ROCKS. we often visited by long tail macaque, thomas leaf monkeys, silver monkeys (lutung), squirrel, lizzards, various birds and butterflies. And when we are very lucky, we even can also see orang utans swinging in the trees or white crowned hornbills flying by.

JUNGLE TREKKING

On the Rocks has the best starting point for jungle trekking in Bukit Lawang. The entrance gate to the Leuser National Park is just 400 meters from our property. See the home of the reamaining population of the Sumatran Orang Utan in the wild.

Our certified jungle trekking guides will explore the jungle with you and make sure that you leave the jungle with an unforgettable experience. We live in the jungle, side by side with an impressive biodiversity of animals and plants.

We have made it our mission to explore and share our knowlegde of this diversity with our guests from all over the world. For more information, take a look at our jungle trekking offers.

Wawan, the owner of On the Rocks, has been one of the senior guides in Bukit Lawang, since 1995. He opened On the Rocks in 2008 and has since built up a well-trained guiding team.

When our guests are camping in the jungle we provide a well equipped campsite with camping tents, self-inflating mats, pillows and blankets. Taking care of and respecting the nature is also one of our priorities – all rubbish will be carried out of the jungle.

Beside jungle trekking adventures, we can also organize many different activities you can do in Bukit Lawang and its surrounding areas.
