For more than 30 years we have been part of life in Bukit Lawang, and for over 20 years On the Rocks has been a welcoming home for travelers from around the world.

Our founder Wawan is not only the owner, but also an experienced jungle guide and long-standing member of the Bukit Lawang community. With his knowledge, warmth, and love for nature, he and our team share the unique spirit of this special place.

What makes On the Rocks truly unique is its quiet hillside location, surrounded by the jungle and alive with wildlife. From your terrace you can often spot monkeys, hornbills, or even hear the call of orangutans in the distance — a natural setting that makes your stay unforgettable.
