Wawan, the owner of On the Rocks, is one of the senior guides in Bukit Lawang, has been one of the senior guides in Bukit Lawang since 1995. He opened On the Rocks in 2008 and built up a well-trained guiding team.

Our English speaking guides are certified by the local ITGA-HPI  (Indonesia Tourist Guides Association – Himpunan Pramuwisata Indonesia) and have excellent knowledge of plants and animals living in the rainforest will enthuisias  to answer all your questions about jungle  ife.

In the jungle we provide a well equipped campsite. Our camoing tent have self-inflating mats, pillows and blanket to make your night in the jungle comfortable. Taking care and respecting the nature is also one of our priorities – all rubbish will be carried out of the jungle.

The area where you will trek is home to the last remaining population of the Sumatran orangutan. We want to sustain the beauty of nature – not just for us, but also for future generations.

To help safeguard the future of the forest and its wildlife it is really important for visitors to understand the impact their presence can have and what they can do to minimise that impact.

Our guides follow strict rules and our guests need to follow their instructions in every situation:

  • don’t get too close or feed the animals
  • don’t litter in the jungle
  • don’t use the flash of your camera
  • don’t shout and scream in the jungle
  • be respectful to nature, your trekking buddies and our team

THE RIGHT JUNGLE TREK FOR YOU

We offer different treks, starting with short treks that take a few hours up to one day. Overnight treks which are a great way to get deeper into the jungle and become closer to nature. And, if you want to really get in to the wild, we can offer you long term treks that take up to seven days.

You can organize a private trek if it suits you as you explore the jungle, however as this is a ‘private trek’ the cost is the same as if you were [aying for three people. we tend to advise our quests to trek in small groups of between 3 – 7 people. we always to our best to complete the group if you travel alone or as a pair.

The price for our jungle trekking offers is based upon the official price of the Indonesia Tourist Guides Association. We will also take care of everything you need in the jungle:
